Bevin to Appeal Court Decision

The Office of the Governor issued a statement today that they plan to appeal a court  decision allowing Thomas Elliot to serve on the board of Kentucky Retirement System trustees. Elliot served on the KRS board of trustees before Governor Bevin abolished the board re-created it as a board of directors. Franklin Circuit Judge Phillip Shepherd upheld Bevin’s authority to reorganize the board under KRS 12.028, though ordered Elliot stay on the board until his lawsuit with Bevin is resolved. The hope is that the new transparency provisions and board members will turn around the state’s current pension plan to protect those of state workers and retirees.
