PERRY COUNTY, KY – A man is in custody after a machete attack in Vicco. Perry County deputies say sixty-year-old Patrick Clay Osborne attacked a person on Main Street Thursday, leaving the victim with serious injuries. Officials say a bystander helped wrap the victim’s arm until help arrived. The victim was flown out for treatment, and Osborne was taken to the Kentucky River Regional Jail on charges of assault and menacing.
VIRGIE, KY, – A Pike County man is facing an assault charge after a shooting in Virgie. State Police say it happened Thursday night on Kentucky 610, when Johnathon Moore told officers his brother-in-law, Anthony Huffman, shot him in the arm during an argument. Moore was taken to Pikeville Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. Huffman was arrested and taken to the Pike County Detention Center.
PRESTONSBURG, KY – The prosecutor in the Amber Spradlin murder case plans to ask for a trial delay to allow more time for DNA testing. Commonwealth’s Attorney Brent Turner says the State Crime Lab found presumptive blood evidence on several items that need further analysis. Turner will file a motion for a continuance Tuesday, pushing back the December first trial date. Coleman’s decision on whether to grant the delay is not expected until after this week’s hearing in the case.
PERRY COUNTY, KY – A Perry County woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly biting two sheriff’s deputies and breaking one deputy’s nose with his own baton. Deputies say it happened Monday night when they responded to a disturbance on Highway 25. Thirty-seven-year-old Amy Mabes reportedly fought officers after running into nearby woods, striking one deputy in the face and biting both during the struggle. Mabes told deputies she has AIDS and hepatitis. She’s charged with assault, fleeing police, and resisting arrest.
