REGIONAL NEWS NOVEMBER 26TH, 2025

Pike County, Ky – Kentucky State Police are asking for your help after an accidental gun discharge inside South Williamson Walmart.​  Troopers say a man dropped a handgun in the store, causing it to fire, but no one was hurt.​  There was no active shooter, and investigators believe this was an accident.​  The man left the store shortly after the incident, and KSP Post 9 is working to identify and locate him.​  If you have any information, contact Kentucky State Police Post 9 in Pikeville.

 

Inez, Ky – A Tomahawk man is in jail after deputies say he confronted his estranged wife in the roadway and fired two shots as she tried to drive away. Thirty-seven-year-old Jonathan Edward Sherman was arrested at Frank Horn Baseball Field in Inez and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment involving the discharge of a firearm. Sheriff John Kirk says the victim had an active emergency protective order. Investigators reported that Sherman blocked her car, tried to open her door, hit the vehicle, and then fired two rounds as she fled.

 

Bell County, Ky – A Bell County judge has accepted a plea deal for an Eastern Kentucky man indicted in connection with the death of a baby. Forty-four-year-old Harvey Gollahan was originally charged with murder and three counts of first-degree criminal abuse in the July 2023 death of 17-month-old Elena Hembree. According to reports, Gollahan pleaded guilty to three lesser counts of second-degree criminal abuse, and the murder charge was dismissed. He was sentenced to five years in prison on each of the three counts, with the sentences ordered to run consecutively, for a total of 15 years on those charges.

 

Martin County, Ky – A man’s flight from an apartment complex on Hode Road Monday afternoon prompted Warfield Elementary School to temporarily shut down while Martin County deputies searched the area. Deputy J.C. Kirk says he was patrolling after a tip that a man tied to a Williamson, West Virginia, shooting might be there when a male took off running. Nearby units were alerted and the school told families to stay away from campus. Deputies later arrested 34-year-old Dustin Stacy of Tomahawk on a bench warrant and 30-year-old Sidney Nicole Webb of Warfield on a separate warrant.
