Pike County, Ky – A Pike County man is behind bars after being accused of repeatedly making false emergency calls. Coal Run Police say 45-year-old Ryan  Cornwell of Pikeville twice reported someone trying to break into his room at the Daniel Boone Motor Inn, but security video showed no one near the door. Troopers say he later called Kentucky State Police, claiming two dead people were inside his room, prompting a full police and EMS response. Cornwell now faces a felony charge of making a false report that generates an emergency response, along with public intoxication, a charge that can carry up to five years in prison.

 

Knott County, Ky – Danny Slone, 53, of Pippa Passes, pleaded guilty in August to distributing more than 50 grams of methamphetamine, after selling the drug to an undercover informant four times between July and September of 2024. In federal court in Lexington on Monday, a judge sentenced Slone to 150 months in prison; he is being held at the Pike County Detention Center until he is transferred into the federal prison system.

 

Floyd County, Ky – According to an arrest citation, Trooper Izaeyah Dotson was dispatched Nov. 27 to East Shelbiana Road on a reckless driving complaint and saw a 2024 Tesla Model Y, driven by 60-year-old Angela Anderson of Ky. 1426 at Dana, cross the double yellow line into oncoming traffic several times, nearly hitting other vehicles. Dotson wrote that he stopped the vehicle and found Anderson behind the wheel with three juveniles and another adult inside, and that she told him she was tired and having trouble seeing at night.

 

Pike County, Ky – A Virgie woman faces multiple trafficking charges after a Pikeville traffic stop turned up several kinds of suspected drugs. Police say Officer Casey Kendrick stopped a Chevrolet Spark on Nov. 26 for a seatbelt violation and, after getting consent to search, found passenger Madison Lashae Balo’s black bag holding a large amount of suspected meth, marijuana, pills believed to be gabapentin, digital scales, and cash. Balo was lodged in the Pike County Detention Center on meth, marijuana and third-degree trafficking charges, along with possession of drug paraphernalia.
