Three horses were found shot to death in the Greasy area of Johnson County, according to WSAZ. Deputies believed they had been dead since the weekend and appeared to have been shot at point blank range in the head. Debbie Hinkle of the Dumas Rescue in Paintsville said the old strip mine where the horses were found is a common abandonment spot by horse owners. Rescuers and deputies hope to remove the remaining living horses from the location to ensure their safety.
