Salyersville, Ky – A former Magoffin County teacher charged in a federal online enticement case is set to be rearranged next month. Forty‑three‑year‑old Jason W. Back of Salyersville is scheduled for rearraignment January 12, 2026, at 1 p.m. in federal court in Ashland, after a judge ordered any motion for rearraignment to be filed by December 19. Back was indicted in April on one count of online enticement involving a minor and faces 10 years to life in prison, a possible $250,000 fine and supervised release if convicted. He was indicted at the same time as 32‑year‑old former teacher Jordan Cobb of Salyersville, who has taken a plea deal, with sentencing also set for January 12 in Ashland. Both Back and Cobb also face separate Magoffin County indictments from March, accusing them of sex‑related offenses involving a minor and the use of electronic means.
Martin County, Ky – The Martin Circuit Court has charged a Debord man under Kentucky’s Rocket Docket program in connection with the alleged theft of water services, a Class D felony. Prosecutors say 39-year-old John Allen obtained water in Martin County by deception to avoid payment, with the value of the stolen service estimated at about one thousand five hundred dollars. Court records show Alliance Water Resources reported the case after Allen’s water service, disconnected for nonpayment and later locked out, was found bypassed with a theft device in February 2023.
Wolfe County, Ky – The Wolfe County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three men in connection with three separate fires reported on December 9 and 10. Deputies say 27-year-old Corey Wallen, 36-year-old Brian Harper and 27-year-old Joshua Spencer were arrested and indicted by a Wolfe County Grand Jury on December 16 on charges including second-degree arson, first-degree criminal mischief, menacing and animal cruelty. Officers are still searching for a fourth suspect, Freddy Fletcher, and ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the Wolfe County Sheriff’s Office. Wallen, Harper and Spencer are scheduled for arraignment at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17.
Martin county, Ky – Forty-five-year-old Lonnie Joe Robinson of Tomahawk was arrested around 8:30 p.m. December 12 on Route 40 in Inez. He is charged with first-degree possession of methamphetamine, failure to produce an insurance card and first-degree bail jumping on an outstanding indictment warrant. Deputy Jameson Wall reported seeing Robinson get into a truck at Adkins Mart on Main Street and followed him, observing the vehicle cross the center line multiple times before initiating a traffic stop. After taking Robinson into custody on the warrant, officers searched the vehicle and reported finding a baggie with a white, crystal-like substance under the driver’s seat. He is booked into the Big Sandy regional detention center.
