Pike County, Ky – A Virginia woman faces meth trafficking charges after a DUI checkpoint stop in Pike County. Deputies say 19‑year‑old Cherish Dawn Conaway of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, pulled up to a checkpoint on Kentucky 319 at Hardy on December 27, where an officer smelled marijuana and had her pull to the side. Investigators say she admitted smoking earlier, and a search turned up a glass pipe and a substance believed to be meth. Conaway was jailed on trafficking, possession, and drug paraphernalia charges.
Prestonsburg, Ky – Deputies in Floyd County say a man is facing a long list of charges after a motorcycle chase the day after Christmas. A deputy reports the rider, identified as 26-year-old Timothy Hall of Martin, ran a stop sign on Route 680, refused to pull over, and fled the scene. The chase went through Maytown and past children playing outside before ending in a dead end, where Hall was tased, arrested, and found with 15 grams of meth, leading to trafficking, fleeing, wanton endangerment, and other charges
Salyersville, Ky – A Magoffin County sheriff’s deputy says he made an arrest without leaving home on Christmas Day, after an intoxicated man walked through his front door and yelled his name. Deputy Tyler Lafferty says he was off duty, watching TV, when his children ran to tell him a man was in their living room. He says he escorted the man outside, arrested him after a brief struggle, and later urged everyone online to keep their doors locked at all times.
Salyersville, Ky – Deputies with the Magoffin County Sheriff’s Office say a Christmas Day domestic call on Middle Fork in Salyersville led to a scuffle in a nearby church parking lot. They say they found Brian Inzer smelling of alcohol, and when Deputy Eugene Salyer tried to handcuff him, Inzer pulled away and fought with deputies, even trying to get his dog to attack them. Inzer was eventually taken to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, charged with public intoxication, domestic violence, resisting arrest, assault of a police officer, and other offenses.
