Paintsville, Ky – Paintsville Police are warning families about dangerous tablets made to look like cartoon candy. About 900 bright, multi-colored pills, shaped like a Transformers-style emblem and roughly the size of a children’s vitamin, were recently seized by the Violent Crime Drug Task Force in Huntington, West Virginia. Tests show they contain MDMA, also known as Ecstasy or Molly, mixed with fentanyl. Police say the candy-like appearance is designed to appeal to kids and teens, and they’re urging parents to talk with children about never taking unknown pills. If you see suspicious tablets or have information about drug activity, call 911, Paintsville Police at 606-789-4221, or the anonymous tip line at 606-792-2706.

Louisa, Ky – A Lawrence County man is facing charges after deputies say he intentionally set his motorcycle on fire along Highway 23. Deputies were called on Saturday, Feb. 21, after a report that a man was threatening to burn his bike, and dispatch later confirmed the motorcycle was already on fire. When deputies found Adam Maynard less than a mile away, he first denied they could prove the motorcycle was his, but later admitted he used his sock and a lighter to start the fire. Deputies say they also found three needles and a pill container, and Maynard admitted there was meth inside. He reportedly told the deputy he set the motorcycle on fire to keep anyone from stealing it, and the flames spread to a nearby hillside, bringing out firefighters to contain the blaze.
