Floyd County, Ky – A Floyd County man is facing multiple felonies after a February vehicle and foot pursuit. Deputies say they got a tip that 26-year-old Brian A. Thornsbury of Garrett would be driving through the Stone Coal area with a large amount of heroin. A warrant says a deputy tried to pull him over after he rolled through a stop sign and made an improper turn, but Thornsbury sped off on the ice- and snow-covered roads. The deputy’s cruiser slid into a bank, injuring him, and Thornsbury allegedly bailed out, ran on foot, and jumped into an ice-covered creek while holding a baggie of suspected heroin. He was later arrested, and deputies say they also found a police radio marked “Property of Prestonsburg Police Department” in his vehicle. Thornsbury is now in the Floyd County Detention Center.
