A new internet scam is targeting Facebook members. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department put out a release Monday that scammers posing as members of the military have a large amount of gold and cash they need to send to the United States. The scammer then urges the victim to send them $1,800 and promised a large amount in return. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department encouraged residents to be skeptical when asked for money over social media and to not send money, photos, or sensitive material to people they do not know.
