The Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter in Hazard is continuing to provide affordable spay and neuters, through their low-cost spay and neuter program.

After receiving a $50,000 grant from the non-profit Petco Love and PetSmart Charities, the shelter allocated $5,000 to their low-cost spay and neuter program. Shelter workers have said that this will help prevent overpopulation of animals at the shelter.

The animal shelter was able to lower their prices with this grant. The cost for cats is $25 and for dogs it’s $50.

The shelter is currently only spaying cats and dogs. But pet owners can still go through the shelter’s regular spay and neuter program for male animals.
