Knox County Magistrate Facing Assault Charges

A Knox County magistrate is facing assault charges after being arrested by Kentucky State Police on Saturday. Jerry “Rabbit” Cox says he’s innocent of charges connecting him to incidents that witnesses have told police took place in January and April. Criminal complaints have been filed against Cox saying he ran his car into David Carnes and Timothy Bright, with both men sustaining minor injuries back in January in the Flat Lick community. Bright’s mother Sherry Stamper said she witnessed the incident. In a separate incident, Cox is accused of pointing a gun at Stamper’s husband Whitley and his son Daniel on April 8th. Cox maintains his innocence and said he plans to file charges himself. He was taken to the Bell County Detention Center on Saturday and was bonded out after around four hours. He was charged with two counts of assault fourth degree and one count of terroristic threatening third degree.
