The County Music Highway has added a new entry as the late Marlow Tackett’s name will adorn signs on US 23 in Pike County. Family members and friends of the Mountain Santa gathered yesterday afternoon at the Dorton Community Center for the announcement. Many felt this honor was long overdue and the signs that were already up have been updated to include his name. Tackett recorded in Nashville, but elected instead to return to his native Eastern Kentucky. In addition to his music, Tackett was beloved for his efforts in helping underprivileged children enjoy Christmas with his annual Christmas for the Needy. Tackett passed away last year in Elizabethton, Tennessee.
