A Pike County man has received an award for valorous service. World War 2 veteran, William Gilliam, was presented with the “Order of Saint Barbara award,” yesterday in honor of his courage and integrity.

The award is the presented to artillery commanders, who have lived up to the orders high standards. Gilliam accepted the award in front of the congregation of the Twin Branch United Methodist Church.
