New BSCTC program is the first in the state

A local community college will offer the state’s first Dental Hygiene Coordinator Program. Big Sandy Community and Technical College’s president Dr. Devin Stephenson signed the memorandum of agreement with the American Dental association on October the 26th that established the state’s first program. According to a press release from the college Community Dental Hygiene Coordinators offer outreach, community education, and preventative services. Stephenson lauded this program as beneficial to the students and the region when he said, “By establishing this program, we are elevating the lives of our students through the tools of education. It’s about changing our region – one opportunity, one student at a time”.
