Last September the Grand Hotel building in Hazard caught fire. The blaze gutted the building, leaving it a shell of its former self. The city has awarded a 44-thousand dollar bid to C & C Construction in Perry County to demolish the building. The building’s owner, Brian Carter, has filed suit against the city to halt the demolition. According to Hazard’s mayor, Jimmy Lindon, they have not been told not to proceed. The city projects the demolition will be completed within three weeks.
