Boat ramp at Cranks Creek in Harlan to close for repair

The boat ramp at Cranks Creek Lake in Harlan County will close Aug. 15 for much needed reconstruction work. Weather and conditions permitting, the goal is to have the ramp operational again by Sept. 15. Cranks Creek is a 176-acre lake located southeast of Harlan near the Virginia line. The existing ramp must be replaced because it has developed a drop-off and crumbling concrete at its end, making it difficult to launch larger boats. The ramp is the only concrete boat launch site on the lake.
