A Harlan County motorcycle club held their sixth annual “Miners Memorial Ride” this past weekend, reports WYMT. The Harlan County Coal Miners Underground Motorcycle Club has held the event in August since 2011 to offer financial assistance to out of work miners. Anthony Reagan, the club’s Sargeant at Arms, said the MC “just [tries] to get out and support who we can.” Many members of the motorcycle club have had family members who were coal miners or were coal miners themselves and understand the struggle of finding new employment. The ride was approximately 70 miles and the club is already planning the 7th annual “Miners Memorial Ride”.
