Assistant Attorney General Retires

The Herald-Leader reports that Kentucky Assistant Attorney General Amye L. Bensenhaver retired Wednesday after being reprimanded for speaking with a journalist. Bensenhaver said she “came to this decision under considerable duress” and could not “survive, much less thrive, in the current office climate.” La Tasha Buckner, executive director of the attorney general’s Office of Civil and Environmental Law, wrote to her that her comments damaged her credibility and trust the office had in her as an attorney. Bensenhaver said that interference in “open government decisions for which she was responsible” made her feel pressure to leave and the reprimand was the last straw.
