Attorney General Warns of VW Buyback Scam

Attorney General Andy Beshear is warning Kentuckians eligible for the Volkswagon settlement to be wary of scammers. Beshear filed a class action lawsuit against the automaker for deliberately installing rigged software on vehicles to deceive owners, cheat emissions tests, and claim the cars had “clean diesel” technology. Each eligible owner will receive at least $5,100 after final approval of the settlement in October. Scammers are looking to cash in on the buyback themselves by acquiring the vehicles. Any suspicious offers for your vehicle should be reported to the Federal Trade Commission and the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection office.
