Earthquake Ruled Out

A reported earthquake Thursday morning has now been ruled out, reports WYMT. The report of the shake had many in Pike County, especially those near Robinson Creek where the earthquake was said to have originated, were skeptical. Doug Tackett, Director of Pike County Emergency Management, said the United States Geological Survey ruled out the movement as an earthquake. The Collins community near Collins Street has now been identified as the origin point. Tackett said many things could have cause the shake, such as an old coal mine collapsing, but did say our proximity to fault ones in Virginia and North Carolina does make an earthquake a possibility.
