Governor Bevin Announces Pay Increase for Kentucky Transportation Cabinet

On Monday, Governor Matt Bevin announced over 2,600 employees of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will receive a pay increase. Those affected by the salary adjustment will include specialized maintenance job classifications, such as highway equipment operators, laborers, mechanics, machinists and welders, as well as engineering technologists. Depending on their classification, employees could see a salary increase of up to $3.20 per hour by January 2017. Governor Bevin said the salary increase was long overdue and hopes it shows “at least a small measure of gratitude” for the Transportation Cabinet employees. The salary adjustment will cost the Cabinet over $31million annually, which will be offset by several cost-saving efforts.
