Floyd County Superintendent Dr. Henry Webb is pleased to Announce that Betsy Layne Elementary will be recognized as a National title I Distinguished School for exceptional student performance in two consecutive years. As a distinguished school, Betsy Layne Elementary has ensured all children have access to effective instructional strategies and challenging academic content, and that all students make significant progress towards learning that content. Dr. Webb said only two schools per state are chosen each year, and BLES assessment scores show them as being in the top five in the state. A school team of educators will attend the National Title I Conference in Long Beach, California in February to accept the award and attend professional development opportunities.
