On Monday, Prestonsburg City Council passed an amended ordinance to allow Sunday alcohol sales at a special called meeting. While some council members and community members were concerned about problems that may come about with Sunday alcohol sales, the hope is that it will improve revenue for the city. The ordinance passed with a vote of 5 to 2. Stone Crest Golf Course will be able to sell alcohol from 9am to 9pm and other businesses in the city limits will allow for sales from 1pm to 9pm. The next city council meeting with be December 19 at the Mountain Arts Center, which will be a public forum.
