Two have been arrested in Laurel County on charges of rape and extortion. 35-year-old Michael Lester allegedly had sexual contact with a 13-year-old female on at least three occasions. Detectives learned that prior to the rape allegation, 34-year-old Jennifer Johnson of Slate Lick, attempted to extort money from suspect to make the evidence of the rape against her daughter disappear. Lester is charged with three counts of rape-second degree and tampering with physical evidence; Johnson is charged with theft by extortion. Both are lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center and the 13-year-old is in the custody of other relatives.
