KY 550 between Lackey and Mousie in Knott County re-opened Friday evening. The Division of Mine Reclamation and Enforcement lifted the “imminent threat” assessment for the roadway, and Highway District 12 officials removed the barriers and opened the road. The roadway was closed on November 28 due to threat of a potential mine blowout in the area. Water was pouring out of the hillside where a mining operation still had an active permit, though there was no mining currently in the area.
