Holiday Toy Risks

The madness that is the holiday shopping season is in full swing and much of that buying will involved toys for children. Norton Children’s Hospital is urging gift buyers not to get in too much of a hurry when picking gifts for kids. Sixty-five percent of toys and games purchased each year are bought during the holiday shopping season, often by those who don’t normally shop for toys. Norton Children’s Hospital injury prevention coordinator Erika Janes says there are five things to keep in mind when toy shopping: read the label closely; get helmets to go along with bikes, skateboards, or other wheeled toy; remove loose ribbons and strings; keep in mind of other children in the home; beware of button batteries.
