House Bill 180 Passes Senate Health and Welfare Committee

The Senate Health and Welfare Committee has unanimously passed House Bill 180. Sponsored by Chair of the House Health and Family Services Committee Representative Addia Wuchner, HB 180 would allow close family friends to serve as kinship caregivers. Dr. Terry Brooks, Executive Director of Kentucky Youth Advocates, said placing children with a close family friend eases the trauma of being removed from a home. He added that HB 180 prioritizes what’s best for the child during a difficult time of transition.
