On Thursday, January 4, 2018, Governor Matt Bevin appointed Brian J. Slone, of Lovely, as Magistrate for the Fourth District of Martin County. Slone’s appointment fills the vacancy left by the passing of longtime Magistrate John Harmon. Slone currently serves as the pharmacist-in-charge at the Martin County Community Health Center in Inez. He said he appreciates Governor Bevin’s confidence in him and looking forward to serving his home district and county as a Magistrate. The appointment is effective immediately. Slone will serve until the position is filled in accordance with the results of the November 2018 midterm election.
