The National Association of Secretaries of State on Monday, February 19, 2018 moved to adopt remote notary standards drafted by a task force chaired by Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes. The updated electronic notarization standards form a framework by which policy makers and regulators can look to when developing and implementing remote notarization laws, regulations and guidance. Grimes said the task force’s process has yielded a comprehensive set of baseline standards. Nine states, including Kentucky, are currently considering remote notarization legislation, with four states having adopted the practice.
