On Saturday, August 11, 2018, around 7:58pm, Kentucky State Police in Morehead responded to a single vehicle injury collision on KY 36 in Bath County. Upon arrival, it was determined Samantha Sexton, age 18 of Owingsville, was operating a 1998 Chevy Malibu east on KY 36, when she lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Ms. Sexton was treated and released at St. Joseph hospital in Mt. Sterling. A passenger in the vehicle, 18-year-old Daniel Spence of Sharpsburg, was also transported to St. Joseph hospital in Mt. Sterling where he was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries received in the collision. Mr. Spence was not wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision.
