UPIKE Professor’s Poetry Collection to be Published

A professor at the University of Pikeville is set to have his poetry collection published. Broken Frequencies, a poetry collection compose by James Riley, Ph.D., English program coordinator and professor at UPIKE, has been accepted for publication by Shadelandhouse Modern Press. Riley, who has been a faculty member of UPIKE for 31 years, is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, two Al Smith Fellowships from the Kentucky Arts Council, and an individual Artist’s Fellowship from the Ohio Arts Council. He said his inspiration for poetry comes from the desire to make sense of things that rarely make sense. The release date is expected to be in 2019.
