DUI Arrest Made Following Three County Pursuit

On Wednesday, January 16, 2019, Prestonsburg Police Patrolman Joey Calhoun was conducting a High Intensity Patrol in the area of Kentucky Route 80 when he observed a late model Toyota Camry driving erratically and observed the vehicle had invalid registration. A traffic stop was made, and the driver, identified as Jessica Gayheart of Slick Rock, was determined to be under the influence. While attempting to place the subject under arrest, Gayheart fled the scene in her vehicle. The pursuit continued through Knott County, ending in Perry County when the subject’s vehicle was disabled with a spike strip. Kentucky State Police Post 13, Knott County Sheriff’s Office, and Perry County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the pursuit. Gayheart was charged with fleeing, DUI, and other charges. She was lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.
