Attorney General Sues Over Teacher Subpoenas

Attorney General Andy Beshear, joined by the Jefferson County Teachers Association, filed a lawsuit on Monday, April 29, 2019, in Franklin Circuit Court in an attempt to block subpoenas by Governor Matt Bevin and the Labor Cabinet to Kentucky teachers for sickout days. The move comes in response to the governor refusing to rescind the subpoenas. Beshear is asking a judge to issue a temporary restraining order to ensure school districts are not forced to respond to the subpoenas by the May 10 deadline and to protect teachers from being fined.
