The Pike County Coroner’s Office confirmed the death of teenage girl after an accidental shooting.

Gabrielle May McCoy, 16, died Wednesday night.

Her sister, 18, accidentally shot her at their home in Kimper.

Kentucky State Police said the sister was examining the gun when it accidentally went off. An autopsy is pending and police have not made any charges.

Gabbi was going to be a senior at Phelps Ky highschool and was known as a great basketball player and a great person.

All who knew Gabbi and her devoted spirit are left to remember the positive impact she made on those around her.

Phelps High School provided grief counselors Thursday for anyone who wishes to talk. A vigil was held that same night at the school.
