Martin County concerned citizens and the Appalachian Citizens Law Center will release an independent report on Martin County’s water crisis.

They will release their findings in Frankfort.

The new report found water is currently unaffordable for 46 percent of people in the county.

Martin County is one of the poorest counties in the state. It is the eighth-highest average water bill out of the 141 districts.

Martin district commissioners claim the district could receive a $10 rate increase.

If they were to receive the $10 rate increase, the county would have the highest average water bill in the state.

The release is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday
