A medical partnership led to a drop in ER visits and healthcare costs, according to a recent study.
WellCare joined with Kentucky Homeplace to help those with diabetes and high blood pressure attend prevention and disease management courses.
WellCare gave $15,000 in gas cards so members could afford to attend the classes.
The study showed a 10 percent drop in trips to the ER, a 23 percent drop in hospital admissions, and a 12 percent drop in healthcare costs.
The classes also covered mental health, first aid, CPR and other topics.
