There will be a competency hearing for Elwood Six.
Six pleaded not guilty to killing Rodney Stepp in 2017.
A grand jury handed down a superseding indictment against him earlier this year.
They upgraded his orginal charges from second-degree manslaughter to first degree.
Investigators working the case say Six did kill Stepp.
The competency hearing is scheduled for November 26. A judge will decide whether he is able to stand trial.
Currently, there is not a trial date. That hearing will be held in Johnson County.
