One person is facing charges of murder in Pulaski County after human bones believed to be a woman missing since May were found.

Leanna Brumley went missing in May. Police believe her disappearance was the result of foul play.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office arresting Danelle N. Powell, 33, for the murder of 25-year-old LeeAnna Brumley.

Sheriff Greg Speck said the Major Crimes Task Force searched a field off Charter Oaks Road in northern Pulaski County last week and located several human bones.

The bones were sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

While the Task Force awaits those results, the team feels confident the bones are the partial remains of Brumley. Speck believes Brumley was murdered the same month she disappeared.

“The information we have is that she was shot, stuck in the head with a hatchet, and then burned,” said Pulaski County Sheriff’s Det. Lt. Bobby Jones.

Members of the Cajun Coastal Search and Rescue from Louisiana continued to search Thursday for other evidence of Brumley’s disappearance and murder.

Last month, police arrested Corky Hendricks on unrelated indictment warrants but said he is also a person of interest in Brumley’s case.

Brumley’s family held on to the hope that she would eventually come home for the past six months.

“I mean, you don’t expect the worst out of it, you just expect the best. We all expected LeeAnna to come out of nowhere, but she didn’t,” said Faith Duggins, Brumley’s sister.

The family heard the horrid details of Brumley’s death for the first time Thursday.

The family said it is not clear what Brumley’s relationship was to Powell, but think it is likely they met on social media.
