Floyd County man arrested in connection to shoplifting, vehicle theft

On Saturday, January 3rd there was a shoplifting complaint at the Double Quik in Harold,that resulted in the suspect running over an embankment toward the Levisa Fork River.

Later in the evening, deputies responded to a stolen vehicle complaint in the Betsy Layne area. As the suspect made his escape, he drove into a ball goal pole, mailbox, and a fence.

In addition to damage on the front end, the truck also has Cardinal Country Store stickers on each side of the rear glass.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office announced in a Facebook post that Eric Newsome, identified through several anonymous tips, was arrested by Kentucky State Police after troopers found him with the stolen truck.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Pikeville Police Department and KSP.
