A 24 year old University of Kentucky medical student has died following a hiking accident at Red River Gorge.

Gabby Smith went for a hike in the Gorge on the Auxier Ridge area, but didn’t return home after. Her family reported her missing to police who were able to use her cellphone coordinates to find her location.

Powell County Search and Rescue found that Smith had fallen off of a 150 foot cliff to her death.

The Search and Rescue crews have warned hikers of the Gorge to be wary of the cliffs, and stay several feet away from the cliffs at all time.

Gabby was the second Hiker to fall in Red River Gorge within a week.
