A man out of Martin County was recently indicted following accusations that he held a woman against her will and beat her.

46-year-old Jimmy Scott, of Inez, has been charged with unlawful imprisonment, assault, and strangulation.

The charges against Scott date back to this June, when officers responded to a report of a domestic abuse in progress. Upon their arrival, the alleged victim of Scott accused him of taking her phone and car keys and keeping her captive for approximately three weeks. She also claimed Scott would beat her and choke her daily.

Police documented finding several bruises along her face, limbs, and body, as well as a cigarette burn on her arm.

According to the woman, she eventually convinced Scott to let her use his phone so that she could call her son regarding her grandchildren, but she instead sent a message to her son to send for help.

Scott was arrested following the incident, but has since been released on bond. He is due back in court sometime in December for a review of the case.
