A man out of Johnson County is now facing felony charges following multiple encounters with police over the weekend.

Martin County Constable Tony Preece was called to a trespassing complaint just before 9:00 PM this past Saturday night in Debord. Upon his arrival, Constable Preece informed the subject of the complaint, 40-year-old Matthew Gooslin, of Wittensville, that he would have to leave.

However, officers were called back to the home around 90 minutes later over a report that Gooslin had returned, kicked-in the front door, then strangled a woman inside. The complainant also reported several missing items.

An officer later conducted a traffic-stop on Gooslin. He was allegedly found to be in possession of the woman’s driver’s license, credit card, and health insurance card.

Gooslin was turned over to the Kentucky State Police, who report that Gooslin was placed into the back of a cruiser while troopers interviewed witnesses. He reportedly ignored multiple commands to stop kicking the door and head-butting the cage. Gooslin was given a one-second dose of pepper spray to the face.

Gooslin was taken to jail on charges of robbery, strangulation, and other charges.

After reaching the jail, an additional search revealed Gooslin had two bags of meth inside of a body cavity. After this discovery, he allegedly assaulted a guard. Gooslin was additionally charged with promoting contraband, assaulting an officer, and meth possession.
