Two men out of Leslie County were arrested after one of them is said to have pulled a gun on a deputy.

Early this past Saturday morning, Jake Maggard and Marc Jones were pulled over. Officers say the driver, Maggard, initially failed to stop, but eventually did so. After stopping, the two men exited the vehicle and jumped down a nearby cliff.

Jones was first to be chased down by police. Officers are said to have cuffed him in the front to that he could climb back up the steep cliff. Officers also say that Jones asked for a break from climbing, then began pulling out a gun. Deputy Bobby Roberts was able to get the weapon away from Jones before any shots were fired.

After an investigation, it was revealed to deputies that Jones had told Maggard to not stop their car after seeing the police lights. Jones had several warrants out for his arrest.

Maggard now faces several traffic violations along with operating a vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance. Jones was charged with fleeing and evading police, resisting arrest, and wanton endangerment of a police officer.

Both individuals were lodged in the Leslie County Detention Center.
