Now, an update from the City of Prestonsburg Police Department:

Prestonsburg Police Officers and Detectives received information that Robbie Prater, of Prestonsburg, had fled from law enforcement and was in possession of stolen firearms.

Investigators learned that Prater was hiding at a residence in Old West Prestonsburg and was hiding from police and did have felony warrants for his arrest. Officers responded to the area and were able confirm three active warrants for his arrest. Once they arrived, Chief Randy Woods, Sgt. Darrell Preston, Det. Brad Caldwell, and Ptls. Hutchinson and Adams were able to locate Prater and place him under arrest. Following his arrest, two stolen firearms were found in his immediate area and recovered.

The firearms were returned to their owners and Prater was lodged in the Floyd County Jail. This case remains under investigation by Det. Caldwell.
