A Virgie man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for rape on April 8 after being convicted earlier this year.

In February, a jury found John C. Hunter, 43, of Little Robinson Creek, guilty of first-degree rape in connection with a crime that occurred in June 2020.

Hunter was sentenced to 20 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, by Pike Circuit Judge Eddy Coleman, who followed the jury’s recommendations in that case.

Hunter’s name was also placed to the state’s sex offender registry.
