A Magoffin County man was recently arrested following his indictment on sexual abuse charges.

55-year-old John Wayne Loper, of Gunlock, was indicted last week in Knott County. The indictment came on charges of first-degree sexual abuse and first-degree sodomy. No details surrounding the allegations are currently available other than that the victim is said to have been under the age of 12.

Loper was arrested on Saturday afternoon and is being held in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville.
