A man was killed in Pulaski County after getting hit by a car while trying to help a stranded driver.

The incident occurred on U.S. 27 around 6:45 pm Thursday evening. The incident happened in the Burnside area.

The man was identified as 75 year old George Lucas of Burnside. He was traveling north on U.S 27 when he spotted a stranded driver on the opposite side of the road, who was stuck after running out of gas.

Lucas helped the stranded driver push the vehicle into a nearby gas station. Lucas was then hit by a car when he was walking back to his car. 

The coroner confirmed that Lucas died on the scene. The incident is under investigation.
