Kentucky State Police are currently investigating a shooting that happened in Estill County which resulted in one death.

According to officials, the shooting took place at a home on Richmond Road Sunday Morning.

When troopers arrived at the scene, they discovered 43 year old Jeffrey Johnson dead inside of the residence.

The Estill County Coroner pronounced Johnson dead at the scene. Johnson’s body was sent for an autopsy at the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

Investigators discovered that Johnson was armed when he entered the home and was confronted by a man inside of the house. 

The man inside of the home is said to have grabbed a gun and fatally shot Johnson. 

The incident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
