A crash involving two motorcycles that happened early Monday morning in Knott County has left one person dead.

Kentucky State Police responded to a call concerning a crash on Highway 15 in Knott County. Police arrived at the scene near the bridge at Carr Creek Lake.

During the investigation, police discovered that two motorcycles were traveling southbound when one motorcycle stopped at a red light while the other motorcycle failed to stop at the red light. This is when the second motorcycle had crashed into the first one. 

The second motorcycle was operated by 45 year old Billy Franks of Whitesburg. Franks was confirmed dead at the scene by the Knott County Coroner.
